The Queens County Library had a circulation of 23 million in 2009.
The Queens County Library is almost completely taxpayer funded by every NYC taxpayer.
The Queens County Library offers a plastic bag to each person checking out a book, CD or DVD.
The other libraries in NYC do not give out plastic bags.

In addition to taking individual action above, we are building a coalition of organizations that oppose single-use plastic bags as well. Thank you to the following organizations who have already joined the fight . . .

They are targeting the Queens County Library which is the only library in New York City to give out plastic bags to library patrons. The Surfrider Foundation is asking the public to write a message to the Queens Library, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and Mayor Michael Bloomberg to get them to ban single use plastic bags in all of New York City.
