The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the the protection and enjoyment of oceans, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network.
A little over 25 years ago three people in Malibu, CA learned that their favorite wave was about to be destroyed. Those three people got organized and got to work to preserve that iconic wave. This was the genesis of Surfrider Foundation.
Today, we are doing this same thing in 15 countries worldwide.
The NYC Chapter has 900 members, was formed in the 1990s and has been fighting the good fight for beach access, clean water, and an improved coastal environment ever since — our work is supported through tax-deductible contributions made by individuals, companies, and organizations.
just heard about you and want to learn more….
Hi Holliste!
Thanks for reaching out. The Surfrider Foundation is an environmental non-profit, dedicated to protecting our ocean, waves, and beaches. Here in NYC, we’re working on our Ban the Bag campaign, with the goal of banning single use plastic bags city-wide. We also have a ton of events – beach clean-ups, film screenings, etc. – to raise awareness of our campaigns. If you’d like to join our mailing list, where you can get updates on our campaign and upcoming events, please let me know at secertary@nyc.surfrider.org.
Happy 4th!
I’m a Rockaway resident/surfer and want to get involved! When’s the next meeting/event?
Thanks!!
Hi Kimberly,
Thanks for reaching out! We’d love to have you on board – I’m a surfer and a Breezy resident myself :)
We’re still setting up our next Monthly Meeting, but I believe it will be on the 18th. Do you mind sending me your contact info at secretary@nyc.surfrider.org so I can add you to our email list?
Thanks!
Ashley
