We are adding one to the team. Welcome Lisa Salomon! The New York City Chapter has hired a chapter coordinator – our first ever employee.
Over the last few years, our chapter has grown significantly in both membership and our level of involvement in issues impacting our ocean – largely due to our dedicated NYC volunteers, members and supporters. As a result, we have experienced a need for increased capacity and full-time assistance for our historically volunteer-run chapter. With generous support from the National Office, Surfrider Foundation now has a NYC coordinator to help administer the chapter and grow our impact and membership in the NYC area.
Lisa’s passion to protect the environment and environmental justice started in high school and further developed as she studied Environmental Studies at Lafayette College. After college, she went to work at NYPIRG for three years and therefore has grassroots organizing experience. She has worked extensively on the NYC plastic pollution issues, among other environmental issues at the local and state level.
Lisa has lived in New York for the past 15 years and currently lives in Brooklyn. She is really excited to join the Surfrider Team and meet members of the Surfrider New York City chapter.
Surfrider Foundation NYC is proud to have reached this stage and excited to have Lisa onboard as we continue to elevate the chapter and our work in protecting our local ocean, waves and beaches. Join us in welcoming Lisa by signing up as a member and supporting our efforts!
