Our chapter had another great year in 2023! We’re so grateful for you all and all that we accomplished together this year, including….
- Passing the Skip The Stuff Bill in the New York City Council
- 19 beach cleanups that collected 1513 pounds of trash
- Hosting 800 volunteers at events and growing our chapter to 800 members
- Expanding one of our Ocean Friendly Gardens at the Arverne Cinema + hosting three OFG plantings
- Participating in Surfrider Foundation’s annual Hill Day where volunteers had the opportunity to go to Washington DC to speak to our representatives and advocate for important environmental issues such as the Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act & The Beach Act
- Attending the Surfrider Mid-Atlantic Conference in North Carolina
- Helping RISE Rockaway with their Greater Rockaway Coastal Enhancement Plan to restore dunes along Rockaway Beach
- Participating in the March to end Fossil Fuels with over 75,000 people
